ORIGINAL 13 COLONIES INDEPENDENCE DAY
SPECIAL EVENT

NY-NJ-RI-GA-PA-NH-SC-VA-CT-DE-MD-MA-NC
Starts at 1300Z July 1st to 0400Z July 5th, all thirteen 1776 original colonies will be on the air. One S.E. station per Colony state. A full color certificate printed on heavy card stock or parchment paper, with a map and the state flags
of all the 1776 colony states will be available to each station who works one or more or ALL of the Special Event stations. All bands will be in play except 60M and the WARC bands. The Colony stations will be operating on or near the "13" of each band (Eg.14.213, 14.313, 7.213, et.). 2 meter and 6 meter simplex is encouraged. Local operator KE4VPD will represent Georgia as station K2G.

Vanity Call Signs Fees May Be Raised
The FCC released a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking and Order (NPRM) on May 14th seeking to raise fees for Amateur Radio vanity call signs. Currently, a vanity call sign costs $12.30 and is good for 10 years; the new fee, if the FCC plan goes through, will go up to $13.40 for 10 years, an increase of $1.10.
